Ball State baseball alumnus Michael Hallquist has been invited to Minor League Spring Training with the Cleveland Guardians organization.
Hallquist, the 2024 Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-MAC selection, played independent ball with the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks of the American Association last summer after putting up historic numbers and receiving multiple accolades in his lone season at Ball State.
Hallquist tied for the second-most home runs in program history with 21 and added 56 RBI, 18 doubles and 58 runs while batting .331 last year with the Cardinals. Hallquist led the league in doubles, home runs and total bases (163) and ranked second in slugging percentage (.674) and fourth in hits (80).
The Fargo, N.D., native was also one of five finalists for the Brooks Wallace Award which honors the nation’s top college shortstop.
