The Blackford Gentleman Wrestlers competed at the Fort Wayne Snider Duals on Saturday, finishing the day 0-5 in team competition. With only five wrestlers available, the team faced significant challenges, giving up multiple forfeits and competing against tough opponents.
Despite the results, the team focused on individual goals set prior to the meet, including improving positioning, wrestling with effort throughout each match, and controlling the pace of competition. Head coach Uggen expressed satisfaction with the team’s technical progress and resilience, noting improvements in stamina and self-confidence.
Standout Performances:
- Team captain and senior Caleb Clouse led the way with a 3-2 record on the day.
- Freshman Corbin Batten showed promise, finishing 2-3.
- Sophomore Clayton Heflin earned special recognition for his commitment to achieving the team’s goals and improving his overall performance.
Blackford’s wrestling program continues to build experience and growth, with the team looking forward to the Central Indiana Conference meet on Friday, January 17.
