Bremen’s boys and girls swim teams swept Rochester in dominant fashion Tuesday night, with the girls securing their first win of the season 80-67 and the boys cruising to a 111-37 victory.
The girls’ 200-yard medley relay team of Sahlhoff, Welborn, VanVuren, and Byrd set the tone early with a winning time of 2:11.37. Hannah VanVuren excelled individually, winning the 100 butterfly by 40 seconds (1:04.66), while Lindsey Byrd claimed the 200 individual medley by a similar margin (2:40.63).
The Lions showed their depth in the 50 freestyle, sweeping the podium with Sara Sahlhoff (26.62), Hannah VanVuren (27.54), and Sophia Sahlhoff (31.15). The team of VanVuren, Welborn, Sahlhoff, and Byrd capped the meet by winning the 400 freestyle relay (4:21.70).
In boys’ action, JanCarlo Deleon overcame pre-race equipment issues to lead his relay team of Grove, Cannon, and Miller to victory in the 200 medley relay (2:03.87). Blake Grove dominated the individual events, winning both the 50 freestyle (22.97) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.41).
The Bremen boys demonstrated their superiority by sweeping several events, including the 100 butterfly, where Hunter Cannon (1:06.01), Sawyer Miller (1:07.10), and Lincoln Heiter (1:17.24) claimed the top three spots.
