Rachel Garcia delivered a stellar performance on Senior Night, claiming two individual victories to lead the Manchester High School girls swim team to an 84-68 win over Columbia City on Monday.
Garcia sprinted to first place in the 50-yard freestyle (26.38) and followed it up with a win in the 100-yard freestyle (59.52). Fellow senior Sophie Cumberland also contributed significantly, winning the 200-yard individual medley (2:37.86) and finishing second in the 100-yard backstroke. Kadence Fox added to the team’s success with a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:26.90).
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Cumberland, Noelle Walt, Averi Thomas, and Garcia added a key victory, finishing with a time of 1:56.66.
While Columbia City claimed wins in the 100-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle, Manchester’s depth and consistent scoring across events secured the victory.
Manchester will travel to Bluffton on Thursday before competing in the TRC Championships at Maconaquah on Saturday.
