The Greenfield-Central Cougars delivered a dominant performance Tuesday night, defeating the Muncie Central Bearcats 76-33. The Cougars’ relentless defense and balanced offensive attack paved the way for the 43-point victory.
Seniors Chaney Brown and Madison Sonsini led the scoring effort with 18 and 17 points, respectively, while sophomore Izzy Silcox added 14 and senior Brooklyn McConnell chipped in 10. Senior Leilani Forshey rounded out the scoring with 2 points. Sonsini also led the team in rebounds, pulling down 9, while Brown added 7.
Defensively, the Cougars forced 25 turnovers, with Ainsley Robinson leading the team with 4 steals. Robinson also paced the offense with 5 assists. The team combined for 14 steals and 24 deflections in a stifling defensive effort.
Greenfield-Central will look to continue its momentum Friday night at Mt. Vernon, with the junior varsity game tipping off at 6 p.m.
