In their first appearance in the prestigious Hall of Fame Classic at New Castle Fieldhouse, the Greenfield Central Cougars put up a valiant effort before falling to the top-ranked Fishers Tigers 85-80 in the championship game. The Cougars (7-2) overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to make it a competitive game but came up short against the defending champions.
Braylon Mullins delivered a stellar performance, earning Hall of Fame MVP honors with 33 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Senior Boston Willard had a fantastic night, hitting all four of his three-point attempts to finish with 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Senior guard Mikey Johnson, named to the All-Tournament Team, added 17 points and 4 assists, providing critical contributions in the backcourt.
Dallas Freeman chipped in with eight points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Brady Johnson scored three points. Cooper Robertson added a point from the free-throw line. Prior to the game, Brady Johnson was honored with the Richard P. Jennings Scholarship Award, presented by the Hall of Fame Volunteers, recognizing his academic and athletic excellence.
Despite the loss, Greenfield Central’s resilience and strong play against the top-ranked team in the state showcased their potential for the rest of the season. The Cougars return to action on Friday, January 3, hosting the Rushville Lions.
