Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke announced Wednesday morning that he will declare for the 2025 NFL Draft, aiming to become IU’s first quarterback selected since Nate Sudfeld in 2016.
Rourke, a highly regarded prospect, is ranked among the top 10 quarterbacks in this year’s draft class. He is listed as the No. 8 quarterback by CBS and ESPN and No. 6 by Mel Kiper. Current projections place him as a Day 3 pick, likely between the fourth and seventh rounds.
In his lone season with the Hoosiers, Rourke put up record-breaking numbers. He passed for 3,042 yards, 29 touchdowns, and just five interceptions while completing 69.4% of his passes. His 85.1 quarterback rating ranked fourth nationally, and his 29 touchdown passes set a new Indiana single-season record. His standout performance earned him All-Big Ten Second Team honors, a spot as a Manning Award finalist, and ninth place in Heisman Trophy voting.
Rourke’s announcement included a heartfelt message reflecting on his journey from Ohio University to Indiana and expressing gratitude to his teammates, coaches, fans, and family. He acknowledged the impact of his faith, the support of his wife and family, and the pride he feels representing his home country of Canada on the national stage.
“Being part of the incredible run we had this year was nothing short of extraordinary, and I’ll carry those experiences with me forever,” Rourke wrote.
Rourke now turns his attention to preparing for the NFL Draft, where he looks to capitalize on his record-breaking college career and continue his journey at the professional level.
