La Porte Falls to Northridge in Holiday Tournament Final, 79-56

The La Porte Slicers varsity basketball team fell to the undefeated Northridge Raiders 79-56 on Saturday night in the championship game of the Steiner Homes Holiday Tournament. Northridge’s hot shooting, including 15 three-pointers through three quarters, propelled the Raiders to their second consecutive tournament title.

Griffin Ott-Large led the Slicers with 16 points, while Riley Ryba contributed 12 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Nic Spence and Sawyer Tonagel added 10 points each for La Porte, which dropped to 7-4 to close out its 2024 schedule.

Despite the loss, Ott-Large and Spence were named to the Steiner Homes All-Tournament Team for their consistent scoring efforts throughout the tournament. Both players scored in double figures in all three games, helping the Slicers earn runners-up honors in the prestigious holiday event.

La Porte will take a week off before returning to action at home on January 7, hosting Elkhart in a non-conference matchup. The Slicers then begin Duneland Athletic Conference play with a January 10 road game at Lake Central.
