Lady Comets Dominate Taylor, 47-31

The Lady Comets led wire-to-wire in a commanding 47-31 victory over Taylor on Wednesday night, fueled by a balanced offensive attack and relentless defense.

Elle Winger and Gianna Beechy paced the Comets with 10 points apiece. Kenzie Eagle and Marly Coan added 8 points each, while Lainey Newlin contributed 7 points and Allie Hueston chipped in 4. Eagle also dominated on the boards, grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds, followed by Newlin with 8.

The Comets built their lead with disciplined offense and unselfish play. Winger’s defensive effort was a standout, as she held Taylor’s Jallainah Harris scoreless in the first half and limited her to 7 points for the game. Winger also hit two critical three-pointers in the second quarter. Beechy excelled at point guard, handling Taylor’s pressure with poise, distributing the ball effectively, and creating scoring opportunities for her teammates.

“All the credit goes to this phenomenal group of girls,” said Comets head coach Sara Beth Murphy. “Every school we face praises their hustle and effort. They play hard from start to finish, they’re coachable, and they’ve bought into what we’re teaching. They give 100% every night, and I couldn’t be prouder of them.”

The coach also highlighted the team’s patience on offense and ability to adjust to defensive pressure. “We’ve been preaching ball movement and staying unselfish all season, and the girls executed beautifully tonight,” Murphy added. “This win is well-deserved, and it’s a testament to their hard work and growth throughout the season.”

The Lady Comets look to build on their momentum as they continue their season.
