The Eastern Lady Comets came up just short in a tightly contested game against Cowan on Tuesday night, falling 36-34 in a heartbreaking finish.
Kenzie Eagle led Eastern with 10 points, while Marley Coan added 8 and Gianna Beechy contributed 7. Scoring was rounded out by Newlin with 4, Winger with 3, and Hueston with 2, showcasing a balanced team effort.
“That was a really tough one,” said the Comets’ coach. “The girls played hard the entire game. We got the looks we wanted at the end, but they just didn’t go in. I was pleased with our execution, patience, and shot selection, and shooting 76% from the free-throw line as a team is a bright spot.”
The coach noted rebounding as an area for improvement but praised the team’s zone defense and hustle. After battling injuries and sickness in recent weeks, the Comets had their full roster back on the court for the first time.
Eastern will look to bounce back in their next outing.
