The Lady Comets fell to a tough Delphi team on Saturday afternoon, but the scoreboard didn’t fully reflect their effort and improvement. Manchester displayed some of their best 2-3 zone defense of the season in the hard-fought matchup.
Gianna Beechy led the Comets with a breakout performance, tallying 14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. Allie Hueston made her presence known on the defensive end, recording 3 steals, a block, and 7 rebounds while adding a free throw and 2 assists.
Offensively, Mackenzie Eagle and Elle Winger each contributed 6 points, Lainey Newlin added 4, and Annie Cramer hit a pair of free throws.
Coach’s Comments:
“We keep reminding these girls how far they’ve come this season. We’re not the same team we were when we started. While our schedule is tough and we aren’t coming out on top, we’re seeing the girls do things they couldn’t do before. They’re seeing the floor, moving the ball, and taking open looks without hesitation.
Delphi is a strong and aggressive team, and they like to get in your head and take you out of your game. I’m proud of the way our girls handled themselves today both physically and mentally. We’re just going to keep getting better.”
The Comets continue to show growth and resilience as they prepare for the next phase of their season.
