The LaPorte Slicers earned a hard-fought 51-46 victory over visiting Chesterton in Duneland Athletic Conference action Friday night.
Griffin Ott-Large led the Slicers with a standout performance, scoring 17 points, including a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. Nic Spence contributed 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, while Reed Raymond added 9 points, including a key three-pointer to help secure the win.
LaPorte (10-4, 2-0 DAC) established an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 15-12 and maintaining control throughout, with quarterly scores of 15-12, 25-22, and 38-36 before closing out the game in the fourth.
Chesterton’s rally efforts fell short as the Slicers’ defensive pressure and timely scoring held the Trojans at bay.
LaPorte will return to action Saturday evening with a 5 p.m. tipoff against Sectional 3 rival Mishawaka.
