LaPorte Boys Swimming Defeats Hobart and Merrillville

The LaPorte Slicers boys swimming team showcased their depth and versatility Thursday, defeating the Hobart Brickies 121.50-64.50 and the Merrillville Pirates 143-39 in a dual meet. The Slicers, fresh off several grueling workouts, adjusted their lineup to focus on off-events and relay strengths while still delivering a strong performance.

Event Highlights:

•Relays Dominate: The team of Roman Garay (backstroke), Abbas Hakim (breaststroke), Otto Wildhart (butterfly), and Chaise Adrian (freestyle) swept the relays, winning the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle Relay, and 400 Freestyle Relay.

Individual Wins:

•200 Freestyle: Chase Childers (1st) and James Quadlin (2nd).

•200 IM: Abbas Hakim.

•Diving: Andrew Hayes (182.80). Freshman Dylan Kalsow competed varsity, while JV diver Marco Serna posted the top overall score.

•100 Butterfly: Roman Garay (1st), Karter Griffin (2nd).

•500 Freestyle: Chaise Adrian.

•100 Backstroke: Freshmen Cameron Hatala (1st) and Hugo Luna (2nd).

•100 Breaststroke: Otto Wildhart (1:03.76), excelling in an off-event.

Shoutouts were given to Malachi Talbot for his consistent improvement and to Milo Jimenez for his intensity and leadership.

With the wins, LaPorte improves to 14-3 and travels to Merrillville next Tuesday for their regular conference meet against the Pirates.
