The LaPorte High School gymnastics team secured a solid second-place finish Tuesday night in a competitive tri-meet, scoring 88.9 points behind host Plymouth’s 98.95 and narrowly edging New Prairie’s 88.35.
Senior Kate Doty led the Slicers with a standout performance, capturing first place on beam with an 8.55 and second on floor with an 8.6. She also claimed second in the all-around competition with a 32.85 total. Doty placed fourth on bars (7.45) and sixth on vault (8.25).
Teammates Genny Witulski and Jules Schadt also contributed key scores. Witulski finished eighth all-around with 28.75, while Schadt placed ninth all-around with 27.3.
The team will host Hobart, New Prairie, and Knox in their next competition on Thursday.
