LaPorte Swimmers Crush Dual Meet, Break Pool Records

LaPorte High School’s swimming team dominated a double dual meet at Wheeler High School, defeating the Wheeler Bearcats 143-34 and Boone Grove Wolves 145-10 while breaking two pool records.

The Slicers’ Medley Relay team of Roman Garay, Abbas Hakim, Otto Wildhart, and Andrew Hayes set a new record, breaking the previous mark held by Ben Klimczak, Isaac Temores, Justin Dusza, and Jacob Cooper.

Individual standouts included Abbas Hakim, who won the 200 Freestyle and broke the 100 Breaststroke record by over 1.5 seconds. Otto Wildhart claimed victories in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke, while Chaise Adrian won the 100 Butterfly and 500 Freestyle.

Other notable performances came from James Quadlin (200 Individual Medley), Marco Serna (diving with 191.05 points), and Andrew Hayes (100 Freestyle). The team also secured wins in both the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay events.

Freshman diver Dylan Kalsow earned recognition, finishing third and narrowly missing second place to teammate Landon Corbett by 0.05 points.

With this victory, LaPorte concludes its regular season at 17-3 and begins a two-week taper in preparation for Sectionals at Valpo.
