Lions Hang On against Ravens in Defensive Showdown

Mount St. Joseph University (10-4, 5-2) hung onto the victory with a 55-52 victory against the Anderson University women’s basketball team (6-7, 3-4) by a score of 55-52 during Saturday’s Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) defensive showdown in O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both teams each turned the ball over 25 times and both teams each scored 19 points off turnovers.
  • Mount St. Joseph outrebounded Anderson 45-38. The Lions held a 17-11 advantage on the offensive boards and outscored the Ravens 13-2 on second-chance points.
  • The Lions finished with a 9-4 advantage in blocks.
  • Mount St. Joseph converted 14-of-16 (87.5 percent) shots from the free-throw line while Anderson drained 12-of-15 (80 percent) attempts from the charity stripe.
  • The Ravens knocked down 6-of-14 (42.9 percent) shots from 3-point range while the Lions made 3-of-17 (17.6 percent) attempts from the perimeter.
  • Mount St. Joseph hit 19-of-62 (30.6 percent) shots from the field while Anderson made 17-of-56 (30.4 percent) attempts from the floor.
