The Manchester Squires delivered a commanding performance against Northfield, cruising to a 77-41 victory in the Wabash County Tournament semifinals on Friday night. The win improves the Squires to 7-1 on the season and secures their spot in Saturday’s championship game.
Manchester jumped out to a seven-point lead in the first quarter and continued to build their advantage throughout the first half. The Squires extended their lead to as much as 20 before Northfield responded with an 8-0 run to cut it to 38-26. However, a dominant third quarter by Manchester, in which they outscored Northfield 21-11, pushed the lead back to 22 points heading into the final frame. The Squires pulled away in the fourth quarter to seal the 36-point win.
Gavin Betten led all scorers with an impressive 28-point performance, while Kaleb Kline added a season-high 17 points. Ethan Hendrix and Tallon Torpy each chipped in 10 points, with Aaron Reid scoring six and Carter Wagoner contributing two.
Manchester will face the winner of the other semifinal matchup in the championship game on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m., looking to claim the Wabash County title.
