Manchester Girls Advance Five Individuals, Three Relays to Finals

The Squire girls swim team had a successful night at the Warsaw Sectional prelims, advancing 5 individual swimmers and all three relays to Saturday’s sectional finals.

Rachel Garcia led the way, advancing to the championship final in the 50 freestyle with the second fastest time, and earning the top seed in the 100 freestyle. Her time of 25.00 in the 50 freestyle tied her school record set at last year’s sectional final. Sophia Cumberland overcame illness to earn spots in the championship final in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke. Noelle Walt earned a trip to the consolation finals in the 50 freestyle with a lifetime best 28.30.

Kadence Fox and Averi Thomas each earned a spot in the consolation finals of the 100 breaststroke. The 200 medley relay team of Cumberland, Garcia, Walt, and Thomas advanced to the championship final with the 6th fastest time. The 200 freestyle relay team of Walt, Thomas, Fox, and Sophie Anglin advanced with the 8th fastest time and the 400 freestyle relay team of Garcia, Walt, Anglin, and Cumberland advanced with the 3rd fastest time.

The sectional finals will begin at 1PM on Saturday at Warsaw.
