Marion Lady Giant Alana Montgomery captured the 120-pound championship at the 2025 IHSAA Girls Wrestling Sectional on Saturday, earning her spot at next week’s Regional in Alexandria. Montgomery led a strong showing for Marion, which will send seven of its nine wrestlers to Regionals.
The Lady Giants placed fourth as a team, scoring 125 points, behind sectional champion Frankton (161 points) and co-runners-up Alexandria and Carmel (136 points each).
Marion’s Sectional Results
- Alana Montgomery (120 lbs): 1st place and Sectional Champion.
- Bray’Leigh Sutton (2nd place), Grace Carpenter (3rd place), Hannah Smith (3rd place), Sophia Kittinger (4th place), Dani Purdy (4th place), Mikayla Bailey (4th place): Regional qualifiers.
- Alexa Ortiz: 6th place.
- Khloe DeLuna: Did not place.
The Lady Giants will head to the Alexandria Regional next Friday with high hopes, led by Montgomery and their seven qualifiers. It was a “Giant” day for Marion’s program as they continue their postseason journey.
