Marion Weekend Sports Recap: Win for Lady Giants, Strong Wrestling Showing

Girls Basketball:
The Marion Lady Giants dominated Eastern in a 74-23 victory on Saturday, improving to 7-9 on the season. The Lady Giants showcased a balanced offensive attack, led by N. Hahn with 25 points, followed by J. Townsend with 18 and S. Scott with 15. Contributions from J. Hardwick (5), M. Allen (3), A. Roedl (2), A. Hill (2), A. Reed (2), and E. Inman (2) rounded out the scoring in the decisive win.


Boys Basketball:
The Marion Giants fell to Westfield 74-49, dropping to 6-3 on the season. M. Rogers led the Giants with 18 points, with J. Smith adding 13. Other scorers included M. Jackson (6), J. Freshwater (5), K. Johnson (3), T. Jones (2), and L. Barnes (2). Marion struggled to keep pace with Westfield’s efficient offense but will look to bounce back in their next matchup.


Boys Wrestling (Tri-Central Invitational):
The Marion Giants wrestling team had a strong showing at the Tri-Central Invitational, finishing the day with a 4-2 record. The Giants recorded wins over Shenandoah (47-36), Sheridan (57-21), Tri-Central (59-24), and Alexandria (72-6). They narrowly lost to Southmont (38-30) and Kokomo (score not available).

Five Marion wrestlers went undefeated (6-0) on the day: Shaun Caldwell, Anthony O’Neil, Adrian Parrish, Hickson Love, Nathaniel Beck, and Lincoln Steenbergh.

Marion’s wrestling team continues to build momentum as they prepare for the next stage of the season.
