Notre Dame’s Olivia Miles Earns ACC Player of the Week

Notre Dame point guard Olivia Miles has been named the ACC Player of the Week following a record-breaking performance in Sunday’s 95-54 victory over Virginia. This marks the second time this season and the fourth time in her career that the junior standout has earned the honor.

Miles recorded 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists against the Cavaliers, achieving her third triple-double of the season and the sixth of her career. The 14 assists tied a career high, solidifying Miles’ reputation as one of the nation’s top playmakers. Her latest triple-double ties her with Maryland legend Alyssa Thomas for the most career triple-doubles in ACC history, and she is the first ACC player ever to record back-to-back triple-doubles. She previously tallied 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists against Loyola Maryland on Dec. 22.

Additionally, Miles joins Jackie Young as the only Notre Dame players to post a triple-double in ACC play, with both achieving the feat against Virginia.

Sunday’s game also added another milestone to Miles’ impressive resume. With her ninth rebound, the 5-10 floor general surpassed 500 career rebounds, becoming just the third player in Notre Dame women’s basketball history to amass 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 500 assists. She joins an elite group that includes Skylar Diggins and Lindsay Allen.

Currently, Miles leads the ACC with 7.2 assists per game and is the NCAA’s active leader in career assists per game with an average of 6.8.

The No. 3 Fighting Irish (12-0) will take a brief break before resuming play on Sunday, January 7, in a marquee matchup at No. 17 North Carolina. Miles and the Irish will look to continue their undefeated season and build on her historic accomplishments.
