The Slicer Girls’ Gymnastics Team kicked off their season with a strong 94.775-90.8 victory over Chesterton High School on Thursday night.
Sophomore Evie Travis led the Slicers, placing second in Vault (8.45), Bars (8.475), Beam (8.875), and All-Around (34.425). She also secured third place on Floor with a score of 8.625.
Freshman Kate Doty had an impressive debut, finishing third in Vault (8.1), Bars (7.55), Beam (8.1), and All-Around (32.4), while earning second place on Floor with a score of 8.65.
Sophomore Genny Witulski and junior Jules Schadt rounded out the Slicers’ effort with solid performances. Witulski took sixth on Vault, fourth on Beam (7.2), and fifth All-Around (26.35). Schadt earned fourth on Vault (8.0), fifth on Bars (5.925), and seventh All-Around (25.825).
“This was a great first meet of the season,” said the Slicers’ coach.
The Slicers return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 14, when they host Crown Point for their home opener.
