Slicers Gymnastics Falls to Crown Point

The LaPorte High School gymnastics team showed improvement despite falling to Crown Point 107.4-95.375 in their first home meet of the season.

Sophomore Evie Travis led the Slicers with a season-high all-around score of 34.425, placing third overall. Travis took third on vault (8.55), fourth on bars (8.1), fourth on beam (8.975) and sixth on floor (8.8).

Freshman Kate Doty captured first place on floor exercise with a season-best 9.25. Doty finished fourth overall with a 32.95, contributing scores of 8.2 on vault (seventh), 7.4 on bars (sixth) and 8.075 on beam (sixth).

Sophomore Genny Witulski placed sixth all-around with 27.225, while junior Jules Schadt finished seventh with 27.225. Crown Point’s second team competed uncontested, scoring 96.35.

The Slicers return to action Saturday at the East-West Invite in Elkhart.
