Rachel Garcia and Sophie Cumberland each won two individual events, while Averi Thomas and Kelzei Fox added individual victories to lead the Manchester Squires past Wabash in a dominant girls’ swimming performance on Wednesday night.
Garcia claimed first in the 200 freestyle (2:11.82) and 100 breaststroke (1:17.47), while Cumberland secured wins in the 200 IM (2:36.93) and the grueling 500 freestyle (6:31.58). Thomas earned her victory in the 100 backstroke (1:26.23), and Fox was triumphant in the 100 butterfly (1:57.46).
The Squires also showcased their strength in relays, with the 200 medley relay team of Cumberland, Kadence Fox, Garcia, and Noelle Walt finishing first in 2:16.63. The 400 freestyle relay team of Cumberland, Sophia Anglin, Thomas, and Garcia also claimed victory with a time of 4:31.41.
Manchester will honor its seven seniors Monday night when they host Columbia City.
