Anderson University men’s track and field senior Michael Sweigart garnered the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Throws Athlete-of-the-Week award, which was announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Sweigart earned his first HCAC Throws Athlete-of-the-Week award of the season. The Alexandria native has been named HCAC Field Athlete of the Week three times in his career during the indoor season and twice in his career during the outdoor season. Debuting this season, the HCAC split the Field Athlete-of-the-Week award into Throws Athlete of the Week and Jumps Athlete of the Week.
Sweigart captured second place in the weight throw with a toss of 18.10 meters (59 feet, 4.75 inches) during last Saturday’s George Glass Invitational in Upland. He currently leads the HCAC and ranks 13th in NCAA D-III in the weight throw.
Anderson battles in the Wildcat Open on Friday at 12 p.m. in Marion.
