The Peru Tigers pulled off a dramatic comeback Tuesday night, defeating Northwestern 48-39 in a Three Rivers Conference matchup on the road. Despite offensive struggles through the first three quarters, the Tigers erupted for 24 points in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Trailing 21-19 at halftime, Peru continued to face challenges on offense in the third quarter, as Northwestern extended its lead to 32-24 heading into the final frame. However, the Tigers turned the game around with a dominant 14-0 run to start the fourth quarter. Key contributions from Addison Robbins and Kyannah Correll fueled the comeback, with Robbins scoring six of her 20 points in the period and Correll converting two and-one plays to swing momentum in the Tigers’ favor.
Robbins led the way with a double-double, recording 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Jacey Boswell added 14 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block, and 2 steals, while Correll chipped in with 9 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. Alivia Ross contributed 3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals, and Sydney Azbell rounded out the scoring with 2 points, 4 rebounds, and a steal.
The victory improves Peru’s record to 4-8 overall and 1-4 in the TRC, providing a much-needed boost as the Tigers look to build on their momentum in upcoming conference play.
