Warsaw Takes 5th Place at NLC Meet

The Tiger wrestlers wrapped up the Northern Lakes Conference season at the NLC Championships on Saturday.

Warsaw had two champions on the day and finished the tournament in 5th place.

Senior wrestlers, Danny Moon (157) and Kameron Kauffman (285) handled their business as the top seeds in the tournament and won all three of their matches by pinfall.

The Tigers got a 3rd place finish at 126 pounds from Gabe Veit. Veit earned a 3-1 record for the day. He won his first match by pin, the picked up a tech fall in the conso semis. In the placement round, he scored 10 unanswered points to earn a 10-3 decision.

KC Smith (132), Enrique Silva (150), and Zander Moore (165) were 4th place finishers with 2-2 records.

The Tigers got a pair of strong performances from sophomore step-ins also. Nolan Stump (120) and Christian Cullers (215) replaced teammates in the brackets and earned 5th place finishes with 2-2 records.

Andrew Hankins (106) and Ethan Crawford (113) rounded out the Tiger scoring with 6th place finishes.

The Tigers finished the dual meet portion of the conference schedule earlier in the season and finished tied for 4th place.

The final standings after the tournament landed Warsaw in the 5th spot overall for the NLC.

Warsaw will host Triton in the Tiger Den on Wednesday night. The final contest of the regular season will also be senior night for the Tigers.
