Wawasee secured a dominant 48-24 victory over Goshen in a wrestling dual meet on Tuesday, winning nine of 14 varsity matches.
After an early 12-0 lead for Goshen, Wawasee responded with a string of strong performances. Derek Morrison (215) and Lyam Moseman (285) delivered back-to-back pins to tie the match at 12-12. Cameron Senter (120) earned a technical fall (15-0) over Landin Carillo, and Isaac Ruff (126) added a pin in 1:57 against Jose Hernandez to extend the Wawasee lead.
Key wins in the later matches included Gaige Boyd (138) with a 9-8 decision over Kenneth Davidson, Cavan Tom (144) with a major decision (16-2) over Alex Diaz-Ruiz, and Carson Nine (157) with a pin in 2:13 against Jeremiah Jones. Moses Howard (165) capped off the night with a 7-3 decision over Stephen Yowell.
In junior varsity action, Goshen’s Dillon Alvarez (138) secured a pin in 59 seconds, while Wawasee’s Kailyn Ferrer (138) earned a 7-4 sudden victory over Cooper Yoder. Wawasee saw additional JV pins from Kingston Sanchez (165), Devin Sewell (165), and Brody Young (175).
Wawasee moves forward with momentum as they continue their season.
