Williamson Sets Career Scoring High, Anderson Survives Earlham

The Anderson University women’s basketball team (8-7, 5-4) survived Earlham College (4-12, 0-9) with a 69-65 road Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) victory in Richmond.

Paige Williamson led the Ravens with 18 points. The freshman from Rockford, Ohio drained 6-of-10 (60 percent) shots from 3-point range.

COACH JON GIN’S COMMENTS

It was good to see us overcome a very slow start. We’ve been starting slow on the road, but it was good to see us battle back and come out with a win. Paige Williamson really sparked our offense [on Saturday] and it was great to see her get on track.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Earlham jumped out to a 10-2 lead and a 16-5 lead.
  • The Quakers held the Ravens to 6.3 percent (1-of-16) shooting from 3-point range on their first 16 attempts.
  • Anderson finished shooting 45.4 percent (10-of-22) from the perimeter on its final 22 attempts.
  • The Ravens knocked down 11-of-38 (28.9 percent) shots from 3-point range while the Quakers were held to 2-of-12 (16.7 percent) shooting from behind the arc.
  • Earlham hit 27-of-71 (38.0 percent) shots from the field while Anderson made 23-of-74 (31.1 percent) attempts from the floor.
  • The Ravens outscored the Quakers 11-8 on fast-break points.
  • Anderson drained 12-of-15 (80 percent) attempts from the free-throw line while Earlham knocked down 9-of-14 (64.3 percent) shots from the charity stripe.
  • Earlham held a 52-46 rebounding advantage.
